Tolerance

I was under the impression that all religions of the world would include tolerance as one of their most basic teachings.

Tolerance for other people, tolerance for other religions, and tolerance for other's views.

I look back into the history books, and I look around at the world today .. and I realize how wrong my impressions are.

I am not against religion. But I am definitely against the misuse of religion.

Religion is used as an excuse. It is like going to church on Sunday and asking for forgiveness knowing the whole time the moment you walk out the door you will repeat the sin.

And tolerance? In these days it seems to only be a word ... how few understand its true meaning, reminds me of the usage of love. So many posess it, but never show it.

Sad isn't it?

Personally I think the problem is that we don't think enough. People aren't considerate - we don't see another persons POV - we don't think of consequences.

Pretty unfortunate.

You both are totally correct. It is sad and it is unfortunate.

same here...hate it when religion is used to propagate ideas and views to ppl...
its sad tht ppl are using religion to create divisions in society...
thats the root cause of all these riots taking place...
if only there was just one religion...the world would have been a better place to live in ...

@Pri - I feel that trying to decide on that one religion will lead to the end of the entire human race :)

Maybe then, this world will be a better place ;)

Oh this one keeps haunting me. I wish sometimes people had the power to look beyond faith. It would make our lives so much better...sans prejudice, hasty judgment, and violence!
My dream for India is that someday we are able to look beyond religion, and at the person himself/herself.

@QM - I second your views. But unfortunately, I do not see that happening in our lifetime.
